The secret to healthy weight loss & keeping it off

Dr.David Homer N.D., C.N.C

People go to grate lengths to loose unwanted fat. Millions of hard earned dollars are being spent each year just to be able to get rid of excess weight and keep it off. We have all struggled with restricted diet plans, fat burning supplements, surgery, constant and strenuous exercise and more. However, it seems no matter what we do, it is difficult to lose the weight, and if we do, it’s difficult to keep it off. This is the way it is for most dieters.

There are so many experts out there showing us the way to successful weight loss. Everyone has just the right plan for us. But to simplify things, if we were to sift through the confusing maize of these hundreds of weight loss plans, we end up with one common thread through all of them, “Eat sensibly and exercise regularly.” Nevertheless, very few of us who dare to make the change toward sensible eating and exercise ever manage to accomplish our goals.

The reason is first of all, that excess body fat is not a fat problem to begin with. Neither is it a problem of excess calories. Because most approaches do not understand or consider the biochemical nature of all physiological function, the underlying secret to successful weight loss and maintenance of a healthy and appropriate body weight is always missed.

The real secret to losing weight and keeping it off is “Biological Balance.” It is also the secret to maintaining optimal health. When this approached is considered, we find that weight loss diets, measuring foods and counting calories are unnecessary. This is not to say that diet and calories are not part of the equation of losing excess fat, they are. But when we work within the framework of achieving proper Biological Balance, we will realize that everything else automatically falls into place naturally.

No matter how diligent we are at watching our diet, or counting our calories, measuring the right portion sizes, or whether we exercise or not, the inability to regulate and maintain a proper Biological Balance is the primary reason that we cannot effectively loose weight and keep it off. It is also the main reason that many lose weight at the expense of their health. Biological balance is the one underlying factor that today’s diet plans do not teach us.

Biological Balance is the balance of one’s biochemistry, upon which the efficiency of all metabolic (life-sustaining) pathways depend entirely. This delicate balance is influenced by every dimension of our being: from all the way we eat and drink, to what we think and our attitudes and behavior. So how does one achieve and maintain proper Biological Balance? – Simply eating correctly is not enough. Neither is regular exercise. The practical reality is that living in a modern fast-paced society, it’s not always possible to eat perfectly all the time and maintain a rigid exercise schedule.

What is needed is balanced healthy living:

  1. A biologically balanced diet that is compatible with balanced human biochemistry.
  2. A consistent exercise routine to optimize metabolic pathways.
  3. Adopting positive perspectives and attitudes that foster mental/emotional balance. Unstable emotional states influence an unhealthy (unbalanced) biochemistry.
  4. Spiritual awareness and perspectives of our true potential and having purposefulness in life. Without sound spiritual awareness, mental/emotional balance is hindered. When mental/emotional perspectives are hindered then so is maintaining discipline and recognizing the value of health, which is necessary for maintaining appropriate diet and exercise as a lifestyle.

Losing weight effectively, maintaining it and living a life full of vital energy and freedom from disease is not just about diet plans and exercise … it is about YOU – what your life and health means to you, and how you choose to live to be effective in life.
