Fighting Disease

Dr.David Homer N.D., C.N.C

There are no incurable conditions, only incurable people

In western societies, the 'orthodox medical establishment' with its allopathic approach to 'treating and fighting' disease is generally accepted as the authority in health care. They (the establishment), along with influencing the media, has condition us into accepting the symptom control (allopathic) approach as being the way to treat disease. For a headache, you take a pill; for hypertension, you take a pill; for an infection, you take a pill; for diabetes, you take a pill.

Modern medicine, because of a fragmented understanding of health (as opposed to wholistic), is oriented toward fighting disease by attacking the symptom, and not what caused it. Many of us spend life bouncing between sickness and relief, giving up the responsibility for our health to another, relying on technology rather than nature, until we get into our more mature years where we fall into the 86% of the population with some type of degenerative disease. The conditioning of the world is that, this is just life! Fortunately, the world is becoming more educated and enlightened, and are slowly recognizing that disease can indeed be prevented.

Over the last century, modern medicine has made remarkable advancements in understanding human disease, how the body functions and in medical technology. They have more doctors, hospitals and know-how. They continue to make amazing new discoveries in medical research. Yet despite these marvelous achievements, and the impressive arsenal they possess, they are only successful in less than 20% of the ailments that afflict mankind.

The other 80% which are the chronic degenerative (lifestyle) conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, allergies, Parkinson's, etc.; for such common degenerative dis-ease conditions, the allopathic approach of modern medicine has had little to no success. Symptomatic control and disease management is all they have been able to offer thus far. While this approach dies have its place in health care, in itself is not sufficient and falls far below the marvelous self-healing capacity of the human being.

Life in a state of vibrant, energetic health is a process of constant renewal - a continuum of rejuvenation and regeneration on a constant basis. This speaks of lifestyle! When degenerative diseases develop which some statistics say account for over 80% of all aliments that afflict mankind, they are the result of the life-sustaining processes of regeneration falling into processes of degeneration. It is an indication that the body is failing in its own metabolic (life-sustaining) activities.

Therefore, in degenerative conditions, there is no outside invader for modern medicine to fight with its arsenal of high technology and drugs. Simply suppressing a symptom through synthetic drugs does nothing toward eliminating the cause(s) of degeneration and restoring the processes of regeneration and superior health. Whether it may be a headache, and infection or a cancerous tumor, it has a more basic underlying cause: IMBALANCE & INEFFICIENCY of biosystems.

We may take an antibiotic to fight an infection, but why did the infection develop to begin with? We may take an antihistamine to suppress the symptoms of allergies, but what has caused the body to respond in this way? We can have a tumor surgically removed, but what caused the tumor to develop in the first place? If it developed once, could it not develop again of the cause is not removed? - From InnerLife's understanding, what is called disease is better seen as expressions of underlying imbalances due to lifestyle (choices, attitudes, decisions, behavior) and diet (all the we feed into the body).

Modern medicine can save our lives with its effective crisis-oriented medicine. If we got a gunshot, was in an automobile accident, or suddenly got a heart attack, orthodox medicine may save our lives. However, modern medicine cannot make us healthy, keep us healthy, nor prevent us from developing disease. It all lies in personal responsibility. In an effort to take this responsibility and build a superior quality of health, it is necessary that we try to break away from conforming to the conditioning of the world and begin to ask the right questions to find the right answers to our health dilemma.
